Clinical Trials
Genesee Surgical Associates is a leader in the Rochester, NY region in bringing promising new treatments to patients battling cancer, particularly breast and colon cancers.
About Clinical Trials
Clinical trials, also called clinical studies, are research studies with people. Each trial seeks to answer specific scientific questions and to find better ways to prevent, detect, or treat diseases or to improve care.
National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project
We have long been aligned with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), a clinical trials cooperative group supported by the National Cancer Institute. As a result, we have actively participated in changing the way breast cancer is treated and prevented.
The NSABP has more than a 40-year history of designing and conducting clinical trials that have contributed significantly to improving the care options for individuals with cancer. We have been - and continue to be - involved in many NSABP studies. In fact, our practice was the only one in the Rochester region to participate in the major NSABP study that first demonstrated on a large scale the preventive effects of the drug Tamoxifen in treating breast cancer. We are committed to offering clinical trials that add to scientific knowledge about cancer care, and also give eligible patients access to the most advanced treatments.
Currently Genesee Surgical is not participating in any open clinical trials.
Below is a list of clinical trials that Genesee Surgical Associates participated in:
- Breast Cancer Prevention Trial (STAR Study)
- Sentinel Node Breast Cancer Trial
- Colon Cancer Trial
Chemotherapy Trials
- Breast Cancer Trial - Tumors Overexpress HER2
- Breast Cancer Trial for Node-Positive Patients
